It is important to take the necessary steps to prepare for any cosmetic procedure. All starts with an in-person consultation with Dr. Yang at the Sidney Office to determine the condition of your skin, listen to your concerns and preferences and design a personalized treatment recommendation.
To prepare for Lumecca, you should try to avoid direct sun exposure and tanning sessions at least one month before the procedure. This will just exacerbate your existing skin condition and result in needing more treatment sessions later on.
During the procedure, you’ll notice a flash of light coming from the handheld device and a slight warm sensation on the treated areas.
Immediately following treatment, you’ll see bright red spots where the light made contact with your skin. This is completely normal. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots which is also expected. In the week afterwards, the pigmented lesions flake off and will lead to an evening out of skin tone.
